What Went Well:
Throughout this process, the focus and determination in every member truly surpassed my expectations. We were all so fixated, took no breaks, and finished the shoot within 2 days. I believe the reason for this success is our effort to communicate with each other and provide constructive feedback. From pre to post-production, we were constantly texting on the project group chat, confirming each others' ideas and sending drafts.
In terms of the video itself, I think our highlight was the diversity of shot types and overall aesthetic. We experimented with everything, including: POV shots, over the shoulder shots, tilts, pans, tracking shots, etc... This may look overdone, but I believe of the shots we selected, everything was arranged quite nicely and no shot was redundant.
Furthermore, the composition and mise-en-scene was thought out by every member. For example, James costume and makeup were deliberately chosen to reflect his characters' personalities(the flimsy white shirt and the heavy eyebags). We also chose to have the majority of the chase sequence in the stairwells and frame it in a way that enhances the claustrophobia and fear we feel for James's character. A lot of little details like the alcohol bottles, pills and blood on knife were carefully thought out by all of us. Obviously, it is no where near a professional film, but I think it helped make the video more worthwhile to watch.
